Have you heard of or tried a caramelised apple cake before? If you haven’t you should!
First off, the middle of the cake consists of nice caramelised apples and then it’s topped off with caramel over it.
Optional: can add raisins, rum or cinnamon.

- Cake Batter
- 3 Apples
- 150 g Caster Sugar
- 200 g Plain Flour
- 3 Eggs
- 200 g Margarine
- 5 g Baking Powder
- Caramel topping
- 20 g water
- 100 g Caster Sugar
- 10 g Margarine

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180C.
- Gather your utensils and ensure they are grease free.
- Peel 2 apples and dice them. Put them into a small saucepan and start cooking at medium heat.
- Put 2 teaspoons of sugar into the saucepan.
- When the apples are caramelised and soft, leave them to cool
- Put the eggs and sugar into the mixing bowl.
- Beat the mixture until it’s slightly foamy and a lighter color.
- Melt the margarine in a medium saucepan or alternatively in the microwave for about 1min30secs.
- Add the margarine oil to the mixture.
- Mix until it has a smooth consistency.
- Add half of the flour and mix.
- Mix with the rest of the flour.
- Mix until it has a smooth consistency.
- Add the caramelised apple
- Peel the last apple and slice it.
- Pour roughly 1/3 of the cake batter into the cake mould.
- Add the apple slices.
- Cover with the rest of the cake batter.
- Bake for 50 mins until a thin skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
- Prepare a caramel into a saucepan with water, sugar and margarine.
- Medium heat until it reach a light brown color.
- Pour on top of the cake.
- Your caramelised apple cake is now ready! You can enjoy it with some tea during the day or even for breakfast.
