Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180C.
Start by making the cake base.
Put the flour, sugar, baking powder and the finely grated orange’s zest into the mixing bowl.
Add the oil and water.
Mix until it has a smooth consistency.
Pour the cake batter into the cake mould.
Bake for 15 mins.
leave it to cool.
Then let’s prepare the chocolate mousse.
Mix the gelatine powder and water.
Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of gently simmering water or in the microwave for 1 min 30.
Mix 60ml of cream and the sugar in a saucepan and start cooking at medium heat.
Pour the mixture from the saucepan on the chocolate and add the gelatine.
Mix until it has a smooth consistency.
Add the rest of the cream to a mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. Whisk on high speed until medium to stiff peaks form.
Mix 1/4 of the whipped cream with the chocolate ganache.
Now mix the ganache to the rest of the whipped cream and gently fold it in.
Fold it in until it has a smooth consistency.
Pour on the orange cake and use a spatula or a knife to smooth the top.
Put clinging film on the mould and refrigerate it for at least 4 hours.
Let’s finish with the ganache.
Take the cake out of the fridge.
Put the cream into a small saucepan at medium heat.
When the cream start simmering, pour it on the chocolate and wait 20sec.
Mix until it has a smooth consistency.
Pour the ganache on the cake. Use a spatula to smooth it out and to cover the cake.
Your orange chocolate mousse cake is now ready! It makes a perfect dessert for your friends or family!
